The memory of the reverend father of our Dionysius, the abbot of Glushitsky, the new miracle worker

This reverend father Dionysius was initially buried near the lake, which was called the Great Kuban [Reverend Dionysius, in the world Demetrius, was born in 1362 in the vicinity of the city of Vologda.

Kuban Lake is called "Great" probably because of the fact that of all the lakes of the Vologda region it is the largest.] and was located at a distance of fourteen springs to the east of the city of Vologda. Subsequently he left this place and accompanied by a monk, named Pahomia, began to go around many places located in the vicinity of the named lake, looking for a place where in solitude he could devote himself to the service of God.

Monsignor Dionysius and Pachomius came to a village called Luchice [The settlement of Luchice, called otherwise "Saint Luke", was located on the shore of the Kuban Lake at the mouth of the Kubeni River.

Before the arrival of St. Dionysius there was a monastery that had been abandoned, and Dionysius rebuilt it.] , and here first of all they built a cell for themselves, and soon after this they built a church in the name of St. Nicholas, which was consecrated with the blessing of the Rostov bishop Gregory.

After erecting a monastery there, the monk Dionysius founded a dormitory and, after taking the priestly rank [The monk Dionysius was ordained to the hierarchical rank by the Rostov archbishop Gregory and, according to the most exalted Filaret (Life of the saints, June, p. 11) even before the completion of the construction of the temple on Luchica.] , began to offer sacrifices to the Lord in purity.

Shortly thereafter, the monk appointed his pupil, Pahoomius, abbot of the monastery he had built, and, after giving the blessing of peace to the brothers, he himself withdrew from the monastery to a distance of fifteen fields, to the river Glushitsa, and stayed there for the night.

And he rose up at once, and was exceedingly glad, and prayed, and set up the cross that he had brought with him, and built himself a small cage under a tree, which still grows in the monastery, and which has black berries, and is called the red flea.

After this, the monk Dionysius devoted himself to strict abstinence, vigilance, fasting and prayer, and after a short time, one after another began to come to him at this place, so that the number of his disciples began to multiply.

The Cuban prince Demetrius, wishing to help the monk Dionysius, sent his craftsmen, carpenters, to build the monastery.

In response to the brothers' request, the monk built a new church, much larger than the first, and decorated it with icons.

Thus, in the Pripyat monastery, the icon of the monk Demetrius, painted by him, is shown; in the Kirill-Belozer monastery, in the iconostasis of the cathedral, there is an image of the monk Kirill - also his works, etc.] , provided books and began to teach the brothers, instructing them in what was to bring them spiritual benefit.

One day, while the priest was praying, a demon-possessed man came upon him. The demon-possessed man grinned, beat him, and threw him to the ground.

But the holy man prayed and overcame their weakness, and they immediately disappeared. Meanwhile, the brothers did not see the saint, they went to his cell and found him lying on the floor with planks, and they lifted the floor, after which he said to them: "Look, brothers, how our enemies are fighting with us, but let us not be afraid.

After this, the monk Dionysius secretly left the monastery and came to a deserted place, located in four meadows to the south of the great lavra [So the Pokrovsky Monastery is called here, from which the monk withdrew.] on the bank of the same river Glushitsa and called Sofnovts.

He told them that his body would be buried here and told them to get all the necessary supplies for his maintenance from the great laurel.

From that time on, he intensified his godly deeds in fasting, prayer and vigilance, and many times all night he lay on the frost, harassing his flesh. Having performed many miracles by the power of Christ and having received before the departure of the soul of his Pure Body and Blood, St. Dionysius rested in eternal rest".

The Moscow Cathedral, which was in 1847 under Metropolitan Makarios, listed him among the saints, and in the 16th century the first church in his name was built. His relics rest under the slope in the Monastery of Soznovets in the temple in the name of saints Dionysius and Amphilochus.

The outward appearance of the monk was as follows: he was of short stature and very thin body, his head was not small, his eyebrows were half-round, his face was long, his cheeks were slanted, his eyes were soft, his beard was up to his chest, he was thick, his hair was light red and half-gray.]

For the love of God from his youth, the monk Dionysius, hating all the redness in the world, loved Christ alone: and for this reason he settled in the inner desert, with the beasts alive, all of Christ. From there, and the all-seeing eye [2 All-seeing eye, that is, the all-seeing God] has seen your works, and has enriched you with miracles and by preaching.

And we cry out to you, pray for all of us without ceasing, and let your honest memory be pleasing in the songs of the devotees.

I 'm going to have to get back to you .

The trumpet, voice one.

Tropary, voice 1: Divine love from youth I send to Dionysius the monk, all the world's red hatred, Christ loved them only one, and for this reason he went into the inner desert, with the living beasts, all Christ's.

The Condak, voice eight.

And all your intellectual desire for God was broken, and you followed him, and you went into the desert, and there you lived as an angel, and many people were saved: for this reason Christ will glorify you, and the gift of miracles will enrich you. Then we will cry out to you: rejoice, Dionysius the monk, desert dweller.

3 The settlement of Luchica, also called "Saint Luke", was located on the shore of the Kuban lake at the mouth of the Kubeni river. Before the arrival of the monk Dionysius, there was a monastery that had been abandoned, and Dionysius rebuilt it. 4 The monk Dionysius was ordained to the priesthood by the Rostov archbishop Gregory and, according to the consecrated Fretalos (Life of the saints, June, p.

7 Monsignor Dionysius himself painted icons, as he was a skilled artist. To this day, icons painted by his hand have been preserved. For example, in the Priluz Monastery, the icon of Monsignor Demetrius, painted by him, is shown; in the Kirill-Belozer Monastery, in the iconostasis of the cathedral, there is an image of Monsignor Kirill - also his work, etc. 8 This is the name of the Pokrovsky Monastery, from which the monsignor was removed.

10 The Monk Dionysius died at the age of 74 on Sunday, June 1, 1437. The Moscow Council, which was held in 1847 under Metropolitan Makarios, included him among the saints, and in the 16th century the first church in his name was built. His Majesty rests under the slope in the Monastery of Saint Dionysius and Amphipolis. In the monastery there are two icons, one of the coverings and the other of the Sign of the Mother of God, both written by the monk Dionysius.
